THEBES!
A Story of Ancient Greece
This novel is based on three Greek Myths and plays: Oedipus Rex, Antigone, and Seven Against Thebes. Herb Sennett has woven these stories into a tragic tale of lost dreams, lost ambitions, and lost love. It traces the decision by the king of Argos to go to war with Thebes, an old rival ever since Oedipus became King of Thebes. Now Adrastus, king of Argos, sees a perfect opportunity to cross the Pindus Mountains an attack Thebes, a city that had never been conquered and its wall never breached.
The story describes in detail the battle that raged as the Argosian Army surrounds and attempts the "impossible." When fighting is done, the two sons of Oedipus are dead and Adrastus returns to Argos in defeat. But what of the fate of Thebes? That story is for the reader to discover as the novel unfolds in unexpected ways.
